Asia is a playground for all kinds of locomotives from all around the world. During late 19th century to early 20th century, China and Japan imported large amount of steam locomotives from Europe, Russia, and America. After WWII, Japanese locomotives had been widely used in most Asian countries. The mixture of American and European engines, and Asian own designs creates such uniqueness of Asian prototypes.
